Crimson Hides Pairing Knife: Review

The Crimson Hides Curved Handle Paring Knife is a utilitarian, “no-fuss” tool designed for detailed skiving work. Forged from a single high-speed steel bar heat treated to a impressive 64-66 HRC, resulting in excellent edge retention.

Design and Function

The knife measures 180mm from tip to tip and is 30mm wide, providing a comfortable grip and easy manoeuvrability. The effective cutting edge of 55mm is complemented by a flattened tip at the top, designed to prevent accidental cuts into the leather. This feature makes the knife ideal for working with soft and stretchy leather.

The knife comes sharp out of the box, ready for immediate use hand-sharpened to a mirror shine so sharp that it could make your eye bleeds from just looking at it. Users have praised this blades sharpness and edge retention, specifically noting the unique flat end tip that prevents accidental cuts.

Conclusion

This pairing knife is a high-quality tool with a robust design that belongs in every leather crafters tool chest.
